English expertise

Getting English right for an official reader

An accurate translation is not only about words. These details are where translations into English are most often rejected or questioned.

Dates that cannot be misread

Most of the world writes day, month, year, while US forms read month, day, year, so 03/04 can mean two different dates. We write the month as a word in certified translations, so there is no room for doubt.

US or UK English, chosen on purpose

A translation for USCIS or a US court is written in US English, and one for a UK or Commonwealth authority in British English. Spelling, date style and some legal terms follow the destination, not the translator's habit.

Terms without an English equivalent

Legal and administrative systems differ. When a court, office or qualification has no true English counterpart, we keep the original term, give a faithful rendering and add a translator's note, so the reader understands it without the translation claiming a false equivalence.

Nothing added, nothing left out

A certified translation covers the whole document: stamps, seals, signatures, handwritten notes and the reverse side. Illegible text is marked as illegible rather than guessed, because an authority needs to trust that the English says only what the original says.

English translation questions

Questions about English translation

Which languages can you translate into English?

We translate from 80+ languages into English, including Somali, Arabic, Spanish, Kiswahili, Amharic, Tigrinya, Dari, Pashto, Farsi, French and Portuguese. See the full language list, and ask if yours is not listed.

What makes a translation certified?

A certified translation is a complete and accurate translation accompanied by a signed statement from the translation provider confirming its accuracy and the translator's competence. It is not the same as a notarized translation, although we can provide notarization when an authority asks for it.

Do you translate my name the way it is spelled on my passport?

Yes. Names, places of birth and similar details are rendered exactly as they appear on your passport or existing records, because that is what the receiving authority will compare against.

Can I send a photo taken with my phone?

Yes, as long as every page is complete, flat and readable, including the edges, stamps and the reverse side if it has content. If anything is unclear we will ask for a better image before starting rather than guess.

Do you also translate from English into other languages?

Yes. We translate English content for patients, parents, customers and communities into the languages they read, reviewed by a second native linguist before delivery.
